WTF PRE-MARKET REPORT Monday, SEPTEMBER 15th 2025
New Week, New Money, Fed Week on Deck
We roll into Monday with markets buoyed by the pre-Fed drift—Wednesday’s expected rate cut is the gravitational pull holding indices near their highs. Elon Musk just dropped $1B of his own skin into Tesla, sparking a breakout and reminding everyone: conviction still moves stocks faster than algorithms.
Trump lands in the EU this week chasing tariff tweaks and AI build-outs, while China’s deal terms for TikTok are giving Oracle a quiet lift. Add in some old-school trade tensions around semis and chips, and you’ve got a stew of catalysts thick enough to swing sector rotations by the hour.
It’s Fed week. Don’t chase noise—wait for clarity.
Premarket Movers:
Tesla (TSLA) – Musk flexed with a $1B buyback of his own stock Friday, sending shares up nearly 8%. When the general buys at the front line, soldiers follow. Watch for follow-through momentum this week.
Nvidia (NVDA) – Slipped 2% after Beijing said it found “preliminary” anti-monopoly violations. Regulators sharpening their knives is a headline risk, but AI CapEx cycles remain the deeper tide.
On Semiconductor (ON), Analog Devices (ADI), Texas Instruments (TXN) – Each fell 2-3% after China launched an anti-dumping probe into analog chips. Trade war skirmishes are back on the board.
Gemini Space Station (GEMI) – Winklevoss twins’ crypto exchange debuted Friday with a 14% pop, tacking on another 2% premarket. Speculative heat is alive in the side pockets.
Corteva (CTVA) – Up 1% on a WSJ report it may split pesticides from seeds. Breakups often unlock value, but execution risk is the devil in the details.
Union Pacific (UNP) – +1% after a Citi upgrade to Buy. Solid operations, recent dip, and clarity on its Norfolk Southern merger have the street saying “too compelling to ignore.”
Hims & Hers (HIMS) – Down 3% after FDA Commissioner Martin Makary slammed its Super Bowl ad as a “breach” of regs. Regulatory heat on a health stock? Not a good look.

Strengths: Liquidity remains abundant, with rate cut expectations building a cushion. Musk’s buy into Tesla adds conviction across risk assets. Rotation into industrials and railroads shows breadth beneath tech.
Weaknesses: China probes on chips add fresh geopolitical tension. Semis are the market’s engine—any stall there can ripple through the indices. Earnings season is behind us, leaving the tape catalyst-light until the Fed.
Opportunities: Fed cut Wednesday could reprice the cost of money lower and fuel another leg up in growth sectors. Breakup plays (Corteva) and IPO pops (Gemini) create tactical swing trades. Trump’s EU trip could spark tariff clarity in autos and AI infrastructure.
Threats: Anti-trust and anti-dumping headlines from China risk dampening the AI narrative. Fed disappointment—either a smaller cut or hawkish tone—could flip drift into dump. And remember: September is historically the weakest month.
