WTF PRE-MARKET REPORT - Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 23th 2025
Good morning, Wealth Operators. Monday came in hot with fresh money rotation, AI still frothing, and NVDA whispering at all-time highs. But here’s the truth: the top is chop. That means intraday whiplash, fakeouts, and “fade the euphoria” price action while the tape digests. Today is about follow-through. Powell hits the mic at lunch—expect the algos to perk up like squirrels smelling peanuts. Stay nimble.
Premarket Movers Making Noise
Firefly Aerospace — Shares tumbled more than 10% after its first post-IPO quarterly report disappointed. Wider losses and softer revenue slammed sentiment. A harsh reminder that “space plays” are high-beta bets.
AutoZone — Down 2% as EPS and gross margins missed estimates despite stronger same-store sales. Investors don’t care that traffic is steady—they care about margin compression.
Kenvue — Bounced +4% after Monday’s political-driven slide. The acetaminophen/autism headline sent shares tumbling yesterday, but today’s buyers see oversold conditions.
Boeing — Up 2% after Bloomberg reported the U.S. and China are finalizing a “huge” deal for Boeing aircraft. Geopolitics meets capital flows.
Micron Technology — Up 0.8% ahead of its earnings after the bell. Watch for sympathy moves across semis.
Nvidia — Down nearly 1% after Monday’s +4% rip. Yesterday’s catalyst: a $100B investment into OpenAI. Today’s tape: taking a breath. Remember, froth cuts both ways.
Apple — Slight dip of 0.4% after Monday’s +4% iPhone 17 rally. Shares flipped green on the year yesterday. Follow-through depends on post-launch demand data.
Strengths – AI capex mania remains the market’s rocket fuel. Boeing’s China deal talk reinforces geopolitical demand flows. Seasonal September pullbacks are still shallow.
Weaknesses – Earnings misses (AutoZone, Firefly) show cracks in consumer-driven and speculative corners. Fed speakers this week are pushing caution, and Powell’s speech today could rattle risk appetite.
Opportunities – Sector rotation: aerospace headlines could ignite defense/industrial bids, while semis are in play with Micron’s earnings on deck. Tactical traders can trade the turn on NVDA/Apple pullbacks into support.
Threats – Overheated sentiment in AI, tariff headlines, and Fed jawboning. September’s seasonality says weakness into month-end can blindside the greedy. The whiplash is real—don’t get chopped.
