WTF PRE-MARKET REPORT Thursday, AUGUST 28th, 2025

The market is threading the needle post–Nvidia earnings. Yes, the data center miss gave shorts a victory lap—but the AI industrial revelation is still intact. NVDA turned green overnight, and the message is clear: the growth runway is still ahead. That said, futures are flatlining as traders keep their powder dry for tomorrow’s PCE inflation data. Translation: welcome to the official Labor Day holiday mode—low volume, fake breakouts, and a mirage of momentum. Thread carefully.

Meanwhile, GDP came in hot at +3.3% with jobless claims steady. Tesla is taking punches in Europe with sales slumping, but the market’s main attention is locked on tomorrow’s data. Today is cleanup earnings plus positioning for September.

Pre-Market Movers

• Nvidia (NVDA) – Slipped ~2% after another data center revenue miss, but still beat on top and bottom lines. Other semis (TSM, ASML, AMD, MCHP) dipped in sympathy. The AI tide is still rising, even if the shoreline got dented.
• Wynn Resorts (WYNN) – +2% after UBS upgrade citing bullish Macao recovery and its UAE expansion.
• International Paper (IP) – +2% on BofA upgrade; pricing power expected to drive 2026 earnings.
• Dollar General (DG) – +6% on Q2 beat and raised guidance. Bargain retail theme catching a bid, with Five Below (FIVE) +4% and Ollie’s / Dollar Tree up in sympathy.
• Snowflake (SNOW) – +14% monster move after smashing Q2 estimates and raising guidance. Data + AI cloud = money flow magnet.
• NetApp (NTAP) – -9% on weak guidance despite minor beats. Flat outlook not enough for growth-hungry investors.
• CrowdStrike (CRWD) – -3% as operating margins compressed vs last year; beat expectations but light Q3 revenue guide.
• Urban Outfitters (URBN) – -4% despite EPS/revenue beats; guidance and inventory cloud the glow-up.

Short-dated calls or swing stock positions into early September.

Tech / AI Cloud – “Snowball Effect”

Catalyst: NVDA proved growth is intact, and SNOW / PSTG beats show data + AI demand hasn’t slowed.

Leaders: Snowflake (SNOW), Pure Storage (PSTG), MongoDB (MDB from Wed), SMCI on sympathy.

Setup: Seasonal inflows back into growth post-Labor Day, especially cloud + storage. Look for pullbacks into VWAP/20D EMA as entries.
